Michael Rowell

1960 - 2026

Michael Moses Rowell, 65, passed away on February 6, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida.



Born on May 17, 1960, Michael-known to many as Mike-was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He built a life rooted in hard work and love for his family. A skilled block mason by trade, Mike took pride in his craft and the strength it brought to the communities he helped build.



Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Rowell; his daughter and son-in-law, Tera and Ryan Garner; his son, Matthew Rowell; and four cherished grandchildren. He is also remembered by his sister Cathy Pemelman and brother Mitchell Rowell. He was preceded in death by his father Moses Rowell, mother Annie June Rowell Merritt, sister Virginia Rowell Etchison, and niece Marli Chivers.



Outside of work, Mike found joy on the water as an avid fisherman. His passion for fishing was matched only by his talent-no one could catch and cook mullet quite like him. Those who knew him will remember his golden heart and the way he laughed hardest at his own jokes. He was a loving husband and a great dad and granddad whose presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering.



A memorial service to honor Mike's life will be held at Crossroads Church, 2420 33rd Avenue Dr. E., Bradenton, FL 34208 on Saturday, February 21st at 1:00 p.m.



Mike's legacy lives on through the love he gave so freely and the memories shared by those fortunate enough to know him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
