Miriam W. Baum was known by her friends as one who lived a life of grace and dignity. She passed away peacefully on September 5, 2021, at the age 98, in Westminster Point Pleasant Health Center, Bradenton, Florida. She was born to Justin and Ebba Walstad, October 29, 1922, in Ashland, Wisconsin. She attended public school in Bayfield Wisconsin. She later earned a B.S. Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin in 1945. She practiced her profession as Instructor of Pediatric Occupational Therapy at University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago in the 1940's, and in other locations later in life. Miriam married her husband, Dr. William C. Baum of Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1946. The couple resided in Michigan, Maine, North Carolina and finally Florida. Together they had three children; Carl, Barbara and Martha. She was homemaker in the best of the tradition, a member of the Presbyterian Church, an admired host of memorable dinner parties, a pianist and poet, a lover of classical music, a willing crew member in the family's sailing expeditions on the Great Lakes, a community volunteer, and well loved by many friends and relatives. Miriam is survived by her son, Carl; her daughters; Barbara and Martha; and by grandsons; Justin Baum and John Freethy.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Westminster Point Pleasant Resident Council, Employees Fund (Bradenton, FL).
