Nancy Thurkettle Obituary

Nancy Thurkettle
Nancy Thurkettle, 67, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on December 31, 2017. She was surrounded by loved ones. Nancy Theresa Klingler was born to Ray and Helen Klingler on September 5, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up in Ohio and graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 1968. Nancy married the love of her life, Frank Brian Thurkettle, on November 9, 1968. Frank and Nancy had four children, Frank Brian III, Theresa Ann, Brandi Ann, and Brent Joseph. Nancy stayed home to raise her children and later in life worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, where she made many friends. Nancy's fun-loving, spunky personality touched everyone she knew. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Being friends with Nancy was the easiest thing anyone could do - to know her was to love her.
Nancy joins her parents, her husband, Frank Thurkettle Jr., her son, Frank Thurkettle III, and her son-in-law, David Brown, in Heaven. Nancy is survived by her children, Theresa (Tim) Glandorf of Williamsburg, IA, Brandi Thurkettle-Brown of Williamsburg, IA, and Brent (Paige) Thurkettle of Key Largo, FL; 8 grandchildren, Alex, Madison, Regan, Grant, Zachary, Braeden, Grayson, and Lily; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, January 4th, 2017 from 5-8 P.M. at the NALC Union Hall 706 19th Ave W Bradenton, Florida 34205.

I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT Nancy WAS MY FRIEND. SHE WAS ONE OF THE MOST CARING, GIVING PEOPLE I HAVE EVER KNOWN. Nancy, WHILE WORKING FOR THE POSTAL SERVICE RAN THE LETTER CARRIER'S FOOD DRIVE WHICH COLLECTED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF FOOD FOR THE POOR BUREAUCRATIC DIFFICULTIES. SHE BELIEVED IN THE GREATER GOOD. WHILE DELIVERING HER ROUTE SHE WAS ALWAYS LOOKING OUT FOR HER OLDER, INFIRMED PATRONS, THOSE WHO HAD NO ONE ELSE, REACHING INTO HER OWN POCKET FOR PEOPLE IN NEED.
Nancy WAS VERY PROUD OF HER CHILDREN, WITH NOTHING PLEASING HER MORE THAN TO HAVE THE WHOLE "GANG" COME TO VISIT AT ONCE EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD A SMALLER HOUSE.
NANCY WAS A STRONG WOMAN, LOVED HER HUSBAND, A GREAT MOM AMD GRANDMOM, AND A TERRIFIC FRIEND!
I WILL MISS HER GREATLY, SHE WAS SPECIAL.

Sending our deepest sympathy to the Thurkettle clan. We just didn't have long enough to know her like you guys in her hometown. We shared our children in love, the wedding, the grandkids, then this...way too soon. Hard to get a grip on this.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of Nancy. I have fond memories of her. She provided, as the obituary says, a bright, happy spot in this world. I first met your mom before her wedding to my cousin, Frank. She was so young!
Although we will not be able to attend her celebration of life, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Love and peace,
The Polanowskis: Eileen (Rose's sister), and Rosalind.
