Ruby Frances McGregor

Ruby Frances Dorsett McGregor, 85, of Bradenton, Florida, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 28, 2010 with her children by her side. Ruby was born on August 18, 1924, in Byron, Georgia, to Ruby Roslyn and William Emmett Dorsett. Her family moved to Miami in 1926 where Ruby eventually met her husband, the late Mayo Ward McGregor. She spent the early years of her marriage as a homemaker, and later as the bookkeeper for McGregor Farms, which she began together with her husband and son in 1967. Ruby was best known as a true Southern lady. She welcomed all with open arms and treated everyone she met as if they were family. She will be remembered most for her loving, giving spirit. In 1999 she moved to Bradenton to be near her daughter, Linda Carol Jandik. Ruby was predeceased by her faithful husband, Mayo Ward McGregor of 36 years, sister Carolyn Brown and brother Emmett Dorsett. She is survived by her loving son William Rogers McGregor and wife Kristin of Thomasville, Georgia; devoted daughter Linda Carol Jandik and husband Frank of Bradenton; grandchildren Jennifer Clark and Allyson Jandik of Bradenton; Kelly Jandik of Orlando; and Will and Elin McGregor of Thomasville, Georgia. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Abby and Adam Clark; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Services will be held in Miami at the Woodlawn Park Cemetery, 11600 Killian Drive.
