ELDRED - Bill Isaman, 87, of Smith Road, passed away on Sunday (Jan. 20, 2019) at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born May 28, 1931, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of William G. and Bina Brown Isaman Sr. On Feb. 24, 1951, he married Carol R. Holmes, who preceded him in death on June 28, 2016.
Mr. Isaman was a graduate of Olean High School. He had served in the Army National Guard, where he achieved the rank of sergeant.
Bill, along with his wife Carol, had lived in Savona, N.Y., from 1955 until 1962, at which time they moved to the Eldred area and ran Isaman's Grocery, which they owned and operated from 1962 until 1967. Together they then operated the Meadville Odd fellow's Children's Home from 1967 to 1969. They then returned to Eldred a final time and started Southern Tier Inventory, which they and their family owned and operated for over 35 years. During this time he was also employed by Pennzoil in Bradford for 23 years until his retirement.
Mr. Isaman was a member of the Overcomer's Church of Faith in Aiken. He was an avid fan of dirt-track racing and enjoyed traveling to attend them. He loved his grandchildren, and loved to watch his grandson Nathan race.
Surviving are five children, Donald (Debra) Isaman of Mooresville, N.C., Carrie (Harry) Rounsville of Smethport, Charles (Molly) Isaman of Bradford, Melissa (Scott) Campbell of Havlock, N.C., and Jodi (Donald) Zamberlan of Bradford; Eight grandchildren, Cassey (Cory) Hartzell, Jessie (Mike) Wood, Lynn Catalano, Jeremy (Michelle) Isaman, Jamie (Jessica) Isaman, Amber (Billy) Romp, Ashley Pearce and Christopher (Gail) Galloway; as well as 10 additional grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Keith (Ginger) Isaman of Oklahoma and Paul Isaman of Olean; and a sister, Susan Isaman of Bradford.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Isaman; and four sisters, Etta Firkle, Kate Blackman, Donna Mallory and June Maine.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Frank Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
