Darrell Wilt Obituary

Darrell L. Wilt, 74, of 59 Limestone St., Bradford, passed away Tuesday (April 16, 2024) at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 20, 1949, in Clearfield, he was a son of the late James D. and Constance Faye (Langham) Wilt. He was a 1967 graduate of Bradford High School.
On July 2, 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Expert M-16 Medal. He was honorably discharged June 24, 1971.
On June 21, 2003, in Aiken, he married Lynn A. (Zumstein) Wilt, who died Sept. 26, 2016.
After his service, Darrell worked as a deliveryman and salesman for Bradford News and later at Haliburton. In 1992 he opened and operated Darrell's Service Center until he retired in June 2021.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Darrell enjoyed restoring antique cars, camping, hunting with his sons, and taking cruises on the ocean.
Surviving are his significant other, Pam Weart; four children, Michael (Tricia) Wilt and Steve (Becky Nelson) Wilt, all of Bradford, Kristie (Scott) Murray of Coudersport and Andrew (Jen) White of Noblesville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Debora (Nate) Cook of Lewis Run; two brothers, Fred (Nina) Wilt of Bradford and James (Auneak) Wilt of Kylertown; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Wilt who died in 2009, John Wilt, who died in 2012, and Edward G. Wilt who died in 2021; and one sister, Connie (Tom) Gilmore, who died in 2023.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (April 20, 2024) at Evans Memorial United Methodist Church, where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Jay Tennies, pastor, officiating. Full military honors and burial, by members of the U.S. Army and Honor Guard from American Legion Post 108 of Bradford, will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306; or Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675; or a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Good memories of visiting his garage and seeing the cars he was restoring. Darrell was always good to our mom (Aunt Audrey).
