KANE - Diane C. Sundberg, 67, of Forest Avenue passed away peacefully Friday (Oct. 31, 2025) at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh.
Born Sept. 13, 1958, in Natrona Heights, she was a daughter of the late Dwight Carns and Mary Etta Frampton Orris. Diane was married to Robert "Rob" Sundberg, who survives.
As a 1976 graduate of Freeport High School, Diane went on to graduate from Mount Aloysius College. Diane dedicated much of her career to helping others as an occupational therapist assistant with UPMC. Later in life, she worked as a reporter for several local newspapers and went on to become a published author. Her lifelong love of reading and writing was reflected in her active participation in local book clubs.
Diane was known for her kindness, compassion and steadfast commitment to her community. Deeply devoted to her faith, she was a pillar of many Lutheran churches and social organizations, having served as president of the Kittanning PTA and as a library assistant in Kittanning.
Diane was very active in and volunteered for many events for the Young-Onset Parkinson's Foundation.
In addition to her husband, Rob, Diane is survived by her son, Joseph Acerni of Ford City; her daughter, Katie (Jason) Williams of Monroeville; two stepdaughters, Nisse Sundberg of St. Marys and Annika (David Felton) Sundberg; her beloved grandchildren, Lizzy and Paul Williams; step-grandson, Oliver Sundberg; two sisters, Carolyn (Rick) Graff of Saxonburg and Cathy Mechas in Florida; and Diane's first husband, David Acerni.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 6, 2025) at Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Dawson St., with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating.
A celebration of life, committal and interment will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 409 Sarver Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Shawn Smith officiating.
