Mary Boyle
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Mary Elizabeth Boyle, 87, of Surfside Beach, passed away Wednesday (May 30, 2012) at Conway Manor.
Mrs. Boyle was born on Dec. 8, 1924, in Bradford, Pa., one of eight siblings, to the late Alexander and Iva Emerson Boyle. She graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1942 and attended nursing school at Vincent Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. She married Edward H. Boyle in 1946 and raised five children. While living in Bradford, she worked at the Kendall refinery, Tate's and JCPenney, retiring in 1983, and moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 1990.
Mrs. Boyle was a studious and devout Christian; she was a member and active volunteer at the First United Methodist Church in Bradford, the First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach and the Surfside United Methodist Church. She enjoyed dancing, art and cake decorating.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Boyle; five children, Barbara Straub of Blacksburg, Va., Edward of Surfside Beach, Robert of Raleigh, N.C., William of O'Fallon, Mo., and Janette of Bradford; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
