Michael Kemick

1931 - 2025

Michael F. Kemick, 93, of 3 Anthony Lane, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 7, 2025) at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Aug. 16, 1931, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Ed C. Kemick and Florence M. (Roberts). Michael was a 1950 graduate of Bradford High School.
On Jan. 1, 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force. He served with the 3707th Training Squadron and was honorably discharged.
On May 12, 1956, in Bradford, he married Joan G. (Hane) Kemick, who preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2018.
Mike was employed as a financial planner at Dresser-Rand in Olean, N.Y., for 41 years.
He loved to fish and took his wife fishing out on Chautauqua Lake, Chincoteague and the Kinzua Dam. He also enjoyed watching the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team.
He was also a volunteer at the American Red Cross and a driver for the Meals on Wheels Program. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where he was known as "the candle man" and he helped maintain the church along with his brother, Jim.
Surviving are one daughter, Lori (Mark) Platt of Fort Mill, S.C.; one son, Joseph (Lyn) Kemick of Ridgway; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Kemick, Claire Kemick, Andrew Platt and Matthew (Julia) Platt; and one great-grandchild, Ryder Delhunty.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Sam Delhunty, who died Feb. 29, 2024; six sisters; and five brothers.
Family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at St. Bernard Church, followed by a Mass of Christian burial with the Rev. John Jacquel, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
