Rebecca Mong Obituary
Becky was born Aug. 9, 1952, in North Hornell, N.Y., to Elmer and Ortha Kellogg Van Skiver.
She was a graduate of Jasper Central School, Class of 1970, attended Corning (N.Y.) Community College and then transferred to SUNY Geneseo, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology.
She started her working career at the Evergreen Elm in Bradford, and in the last 26 years has been employed as the residency manager of STEL of Olean.
Becky was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting and woodworking. She loved nature and animals and spent a devoted amount of time in the outdoors either observing the natural world around her, gardening flowers or working in her vegetable garden. Becky's unending expression of love for her family and friends will forever be in our hearts and memories.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie (Robert) Easton of Port Allegany; a son, Dannie (Diane) Mong of Skytop; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Easton of Port Allegany; four sisters, Cheryl (Lloyd) Drake of Jasper, Sharon (James Koegel) Brewer of Canisteo, N.Y., Carrie (Carroll) Wade of Jasper and Gayle Van Skiver of Jasper; one brother, David (Vicki) Van Skiver of Andover, N.Y.; a good friend and former husband, Dan Mong of Prentisvale; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
In keeping with Becky's wishes, there will be no prior calling hours or service. A memorial service will be announced at a time and place at a future date.
Those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions in Becky's name to the McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Ave., Bradford, PA 16701.
Funeral arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.

VanSkiver Family, You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your sister. I never met Becky but if she was anything like her Mom, Ortha (my Dad's cousin) she had to be very special.
