Sara Veeder Petersen Dodd

1943 - 2021

EDINBORO - Sara "Sally" Ann Veeder Petersen Dodd, 78, of Edinboro, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 17, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Sally was born April 29, 1943, in Bradford. Her parents, Russell Davis Veeder and Olive Ruth Duff Veeder, preceded her in death.
She graduated from Bradford Senior High and then pursued her business degree from Rochester (N.Y.) Business Institute. In Rochester she met her first husband, John C. Petersen, who preceded her in death. They settled in Bradford, having four children together. Sally worked at the Bradford Redevelopment Authority until relocating to Edinboro in 1983 where she worked as a legal secretary at the law firm of Devine & Kuftic until her retirement.
Sally's second husband, of 38 years, Thomas Dodd, preceded her in death this past January. Throughout their many years together they enjoyed going to auctions and antique sales. They took in several pets, always rescuing the least likely to be adopted. Sally enjoyed reading, writing poetry and was a collector of all things beautiful. She had a knack for decorating and displaying all of her treasures for friends and family to enjoy. Anyone who would complement an item in her collection would immediately be offered it as a gift.
She was a great mom, grandma and wife, and a good friend to many. She cherished lifelong friendships with Kathy "Facky" Simon, Bonnie Buccolini, Joanna Stewart and Gretchen Beaver.
Sally will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her wit and her strength. Never one to complain, she took life as it came. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her four children: John M. Petersen, Mary (John) Bellucci, Laurie (Dave) Reisinger, and Ken Petersen. Also surviving Sally are her grandchildren: Jason B. McCann, Jennifer McCann, Stephen Kingsley, Anthony Bellucci and Jacob Reisinger; and two great-grandchildren: Michael Kimmy and Ireland Schauer.
A celebration of life for both Sally and Tom will be announced in the near future.
