Stanton R. Higley, 72, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Sunday (Oct. 17, 2021) at Atrium Medical Center, Middletown, following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1948, in Port Allegany Hospital, he was the son of Theodore and Vesta Hardes Higley of Lillibridge Creek, Port Allegany. Stanton graduated from Port Allegany Jr-Sr High School, class of 1966.
He worked for many years at Indian Head Glass Co (Ball Glass), Port Allegany before entering the ministry. He also worked at a Children's Home in Missouri, was a missionary to Albania, a Pastor in Cyclone, drove bus in Smethport, was an over-the-road long haul trucker, and did pastoral care.
His interests included hunting, spending time with his family, lounging in the pool, and being a minister.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Higley of Middletown, Ohio; one sister, Rosemary Higley Tubbs of Port Allegany; a daughter, Valerie (Jeremy) Bechtel of Wellsboro; three sons, Lon (Roxianne) Higley of Danville, Ky., Todd (Wendi) Higley of Smethport,, and Kevin Higley of Las Vegas, Nev.; three stepdaughters, Brenda Sprester of Washington, D.C., Cassie Sprester of Middletown, Ohio, and Angela Sprester of Savannah, Ga; two stepsons, Chuck Sprester of Mooresville, N.C., and Timothy (Michelle) Stefano of Winchester, Va.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Higley, of Portville, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 22, at the Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home in Middletown, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donating to your favorite charity in Honor of Stanton.
