KANE - Thomas E. Brinkley, 83, of Haines Street passed away Sunday (March 1, 2026) at Sena Kean Manor, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 18, 1942, in Kane, the son of the late Ralph and Pearl Sterner Brinkley. On Aug. 11, 1962, in Kane, he married Marilyn Hannold, his high school sweetheart of 51 years, who preceded him in death.
He was born in his family home, and he was the youngest of six children. He had worked as a paperboy on the West Side from the ages of 13 to 18. His customers affectionately called him "Tommy Boy." He was a 1960 graduate of Kane Area High School. Tom was an avid sports fan. He supported all of the local sports teams (where he and his best friend, Ed, called the game their way) and was a Cleveland Browns fan. He also enjoyed camping and cooking. Tom had a small catering service with his wife and close friends. He was often requested for his well-known specialties.
Tom worked at the Kane Handle Factory Div. of O. Ames Co. for 40 years, retiring as plant manager. He was a 65-year member of Kane Volunteer Fire Department, where he held numerous offices, including chief and assistant chief. Tom was also a State Forest Fire Warden. He was a past president of the Fireman's Relief Association.
Various memberships held by Tom included the Tri-County Fireman's Association, Central District Fireman's Association (including past president), Western Pennsylvania Fireman's Association, Pennsylvania State Fireman's Association (social memberships: Gooseneckers and Chicken Headers), Kane VFW Post 1132 and the Kane Lion's Club (including past president.)
He is survived by one daughter, Julie (Tim) Williamson of Ludlow; two sons, Daniel (Shelley) Brinkley of Kane and Thomas (Andreina) Brinkley of Commerce Township, Mich.; two grandsons, Shane (Casey) Brinkley and Andres Diaz; two granddaughters, Ariel (Paul) Eastman and Olivia Stone (boyfriend, Spencer DuPuis); a great-grandson, PaulDaniel Eastman; three great-granddaughters, Gabriella Eastman and Gracyn and Bailey Brinkley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Swanson and Drusilla "Sallie" Thayer; and three brothers, Louis, Raymond and Willis Brinkley.
Friends are invited to attend a viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday (March 7, 2026) in the Gathering Space at St. Callistus Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow with the Rev. William O'Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
