Wayne Chapman Obituary

KANE - Wayne Louis Chapman, 71, of Kane, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Wednesday (March 10, 2021) at the UF Health Leesburg Hospital in Leesburg, Fla.
He was born on May 6, 1949, in Kane, to the late Alden and Mary Joshnick Chapman. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Barbara "Ann" Chapman with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on Feb. 20th. They have two children: Shannon Randall (Dave) of Albion, and Ryan Chapman (Molly) of Sheffield. Wayne was blessed with three grandsons: Ethan Wayne Randall, Jack Chapman, and James Chapman. He is also survived by his brothers, John Chapman (Patty) and Dan Chapman, and his sisters Judy Mickle (Frank Robasky), Donna Chapman, and half-sister Kathryn Kielman along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Chapman (Vickie).
Wayne taught 5th grade in the Kane School District for 33 years. He enjoyed working with children, watching them grow, and eventually giving back to the community that he loved. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Kane where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years. He was also a life member of the Kane Elks Club.
Wayne had taken up golf in his retirement and was looking forward to spending time golfing with his son, grandsons, and golf buddies here in Kane. He also enjoyed woodworking - a passion he passed on to his son, camping, and traveling with Ann in the RV. Wayne loved to putter around his wood shop and garage; he was always doing something. One of the greatest highlights for Wayne was wintering in Florida over the last eight years.
He was everyone's friend and a dedicated helper to all who had a need. He was also one of those people who knew everything about anything. He has left many precious memories and will be sorely missed by all.
Friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church, Kane, on Saturday, March 27, beginning at 10 a.m. A memorial service conducted by Pastor Calvin Cook will follow at 11 a.m. Those wishing to place memorials may do so through the First United Methodist Church Kane.
The Cummings Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
