William Walb Obituary

William R. "Bill" Walb Jr., 74, of Bradford, passed away on Friday, (Nov. 19, 2021), at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie.
Born on March 31, 1947 in Bradford, a son of the late William Sr. and Evelyn Amsler Walb. He was a 1965 graduate of Bradford Area High School.
After graduating high school, Bill joined the U.S. Air Force; where he served stateside from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969.
On May 19, 1973 in Mansfield, he married Marlene Grogan who survives.
He was employed by the Bradford Post Office from 1970 until his retirement in 2002.
After retiring he started volunteering at the Bradford Regional Medical Center from 2002 until 2019. He also volunteered at the American Cancer Society as the coordinator for the "Road to Recovery" program from 2002 until 2020 and he was a volunteer for the Relay For Life for many years. He also took great joy in volunteering for the Red Cross delivering Meals on Wheels from 1981 until 2019. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension where he was an active member of the choir, served on Vestry and volunteered for Second Harvest. He was a member of the Bradford Kiwanis Club and a member of the former Bradford Barbershop Harmonizers for several years. Finally, he enjoyed playing horseshoes in the league at Hanley Park.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, Marlene Walb of Bradford, he is also survived by one son, Ryan (Mary) Walb of Bradford; one special granddaughter, Emily Walb of Bradford, who was the light of his life during his recent health issues; one brother, Gary (Barb) Walb of York; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021 at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension with a funeral service to immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stacey Fussell officiating.
Burial will be in the Church of the Ascension's columbarium.
Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 108R North Second St., Suite 1B, Clearfield, PA 16830, the American Red Cross, 125 Main St., Bradford, PA 16701 or Meals on Wheels c/o Bradford Regional Medical Center, 116 Interstate Parkway, Bradford, PA 16701.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.

Marlene, I am so sorry for your loss. I extend my condolences to you and family. I just heard about this, I guess the joys of being away from your hometown. Prayers to you and all.
I remember my years of work with Bill, but I also considered Bill a friend.

So saddened to learn of his passing. Bill was always fun to interact with in Kiwanis Kapers and Kiwanis club. Such a good and kind man with a strong compassion for his community.
