Anthony Salvadore Obituary

Anthony Salvadore Jr. Anthony Salvadore Jr. passed away in Charlotte, N.C., on October 13th after a 4-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Tony (widower to Jane, 1996) is survived by his current wife Nancy of 9 years, who brought new joy to his last years, and who lovingly and tirelessly cared for him during his illness. Tony is survived by his sons Greg, Tony III, Christopher and 'adopted' son David Jones. Tony Salvadore was a loving husband, generous friend and committed family man who met life's challenges head-on with conviction and without ceremony. Raised primarily spent in Pearl River, N.Y., he attended college at both St. Bonaventure and Rutgers, and began his career began in Manhattan, N.Y. After a number of years in marketing at Clairol and Warner Lambert, a desire for a change in lifestyle, brought him and Jane to Jamaica, Vt., where they purchased the historic Jamaica General store. This was a wonderful environment to raise the boys within a family business and become an active member of a small, rural community. Later on, Tony and family moved to Dummerston, Vt., where he became an integral part in the development and construction of the Brattleboro Rescue Squad. The Salvadore's then moved to Bristol, Vt., where Tony was employed at Simmonds Precision in Vergennes for 10 years. Continued steps along Tony's career included senior management positions building Navy ships in Savannah, Ga., and military projectiles in Janesville, Wis., and lastly a software company in Charlotte, N.C. In each location, Tony continued his dedication to running, competing in many 10K's and a number of marathons, most notably the New York City and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC. In Savannah, Ga., Tony became an avid sailor and loved to sail with family and friends, go on charters and make extended coastal cruises. His last few years of sailing with Nancy on coastal South Carolina were some of his most enjoyable adventures. No formal funeral is scheduled and his remains will be buried in the family plot in Jamaica, Vt. in the spring of 2011.

This past weekend I received word that one of my very closest Friends and Mentor had passed, Tony Salvadoe. I spent a good part of my life working with Tony, both at Rescue Inc. and many years at BFGoodrich, an experience and teachings I will carry with me for the rest of time. I owe Tony a debt of gratitude that could never be repaid. I will never forget the dinners and conversations at Tony's Bristol home. Mt condolences go out to Nancy and Boys all exceptional individuals in their own right, as was Tony. A Rare and Special Man who will live on in my memories forever.
