Clarence Grover Obituary
The Rev. Thomas Nadeau, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chester was celebrant assisted on the altar by the Rev. Sixmund Nyabenda of St. Michael's Parish.
Assisting on the altar was Edmund Maloney who served as acolyte.
Music for the Mass was under the direction of church organist Constance Wallin who accompanied the St. Michael's Church choir.
Following the organ preludes, Mrs. Wallin played entrance hymn “I Call You to My Father's House” and “Amazing Grace.”
The pall was placed on the casket by Mr. Grover's wife Sophie and nephew, Clayton “Bob” Grover Jr.
The Old and New Testament scripture readings as well as the Gospel reading was offered by the Rev. Nadeau who then gave the Homily.
Rev. Nadeau gave tribute to Mr. Grover as a faithful, devoted and loving husband. His main focus in life being his wife, family and church.
Rev. Nadeau spoke of Mr. Grover's love of bird hunting and his many years raising pointers that he entered in field trails, the recipient of many first place ribbons and trophies.
Those attending the Mass joined in reciting the prayers of the people and The Lord's Prayer.
The offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Jean Anderson, a niece, and her husband Roland.
As the altar was being prepared for Holy Communion, Mrs. Wallin played offertory hymn, “Come, Holy Ghost.”
The communion hymn was “O Lord I Am Not Worthy.” Communion meditation was “Ave Maria,” featuring soloist Agnes Marine. The song of farewell was “The Hand of God Shall Hold You.”
The Mass concluded with the final commendation and incensing of the casket.
Recessional hymn was “Faith of our Fathers.”
Committal rites and burial followed in the Grover lot in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery where Rev. Nadeau offered committal prayers.
Serving as pallbearers were Joseph Grover Jr., David Grover, Richard Wesley, Clayton Grover Jr. and Lawrence Anderson, all nephews, and Dwight Blossum, a close personal friend.
A reception followed the services held at the Quality Inn on Putney Road.
Mr. Grover, 94, of Hunt Avenue, died Monday evening, Jan. 29, 2007, at Eden Park Nursing Home.
Arrangements were under the direction of the ATAMANIUK FUNERAL HOME.u

Buster and his brother, my Uncle Bud, were 2 of the nicest men I've ever known. Growing up, they took me hare hunting almost every weekend during the winter. We spent some wonderful times in Windham and Marlboro running the hounds. To this day, I love hare hunting as much as anything and I attribute that passion to the times spent with Buster and Bud, two of my idols. I love you both and I bet you're having a blast in heaven, running hare with Pepper and the rest of the beagles!

Sophie & Clarence were always the best neighbors. Enjoyed many evenings chatting with you both while you sat on the porch. A lot of wonderful visits. Thinking of you both fondly.

Clarence,
I met you through my wife Debbie,(your niece), just a couple of years ago, but it felt like I knew you all my life. We had so much in common with hunting and both being machinists. She told me on the way to your house that I was going to like you and she sure was right! I wish I could have known you longer. God bless you and rest in peace.

I share in the passing of a good man,
Clarence..ill miss you truly,the memories of you will be in me always.and when i helped with deeds around the yard,one thing ill remeber,is not the shiny quarter it was the advice that was with it,you were just not my uncle you were a true friend.

I'll never forget rabbit hunting with Buster, Bud, Dwight, and the rest of the crew. It was some of the best times of my life. In addition to being a great hunter and caretaker of his beagles, Buster was a gentleman. I look forward to the next life when we can get together again to chase the bunnies. Buster, happy hunting and God rest your soul.

Sophie, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I think back to summers spent with you and Clarence in Brattleboro--that at that time in my life seemed like the big city. What a joy they were! From feeding the dogs to going out into the country and watching Clarence try out a new dog--memories that live on. Clarence lived a long and good life--may God welcome him!

My Uncle Clarence, what a blessing you were on this earth to me and my family and to everyone that had the privilege of knowing you. Thank you for all the times you took me hunting when I was young and I'll always remember you every time I put on nail polish, (only Sophie knows why). I'll miss you immensely. To my Great Aunt Sophie I would like to say how deeply sorry I am for the loss of your husband Clarence. And my thoughts and Prayers are with you & your family. He will be loved & missed very much. Just know he’ll always be with you now and forever.
He was a wonderful man, and showed how much he loved his wife, Family, Friends & anything around him. He always told great stories about Family, Friends & his dogs. I have to thank him for the naming of our dog. When asked about a good name he said I always liked the name Baileigh so without any hesitation that’s the name we named her.
I Wish I could have seen you 1 more time, to give you 1 more kiss & hug, but just know Great Uncle Clarence, I will always have the memories and you’ll be in my heart forever.
