WILMINGTON -- Funeral services for Jean F. Canedy were held at the Wilmington Congregational Church on Saturday morning,

Conducting the service was the Rev. Dr. Marcia Dorey, pastor.

Personal reflections and memories were shared by Ann Manwaring, Marilyn Ward and Julie Lineberger.

Organist Merilynn Courser accompanied the congregation in singing “We Would Be Building.” Other musical selections included “We Will Stand Together” by Russell Watson and “When I Needed You” by Olivia Newton John.

Burial followed in the Canedy family lot in Riverview Cemetery, with Rev. Dorey offering the committal prayers.

A time of fellowship and refreshment followed in the church vestry hosted by the ladies of the West Dover and Wilmington Congregational churches.

Serving as bearers were grandson Ethan Wetherby, nephews John and Robert Greene and friends Thomas Haynes and Joseph Cincotta.

Among those attending the services and calling hours were several past and present officials from the town of Wilmington, where Mr. Canedy had served as chairman of the Selectboard and as building inspector.

Mr. Canedy, 86, a resident of Route 9, died on July 18, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Judith Pennock

July 20, 2007

It was my pleasure to meet Jean at Twin Maples while our dad, Maurice Pennock, was residing there. We never spent any time together, but always exchanged pleasantries and usually had a few words about the weather, sports, or something going on in the news. I am sorry for your loss and will be thinking of your family in the days ahead.
