Kim Murphy Obituary
Diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in 1996, she experienced several years of remission until a recurrence in 2004.
Much of her life centered around moving her body and enjoying its power, grace, and agility. A devout skier, cyclist, runner and yoga practitioner, she treasured her athletic abilities. She was a woman of rare wit and humor who cherished her close ties to family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Muriel Tuthill Murphy, and is survived by sisters Pamela Pardo de Zela, Jill E. Kenney, Kerry T. Murphy, and brother Mark E. Murphy, as well as nieces Caitlin Pardo de Zela, Kelly G. Kennerson, Kate E. Murphy and Anna R. Summer; nephews Regan F. Pardo de Zela and Sean M. Kenney; also grandnieces Reidyn D. Pardo de Zela and Georgia R. Lockwood; grandnephews Quinn W. Lockwood, Carson B. Lockwood and Atticus J. Pardo de Zela.
Ms. Murphy had attained a spiritual peace during a recent journey to Abadiania, Brazil, with her close friend Bryan Shaw. She returned with no regrets, and in her own words, “My wordly spirit has been healed and I've returned to a state of joy, clarity, and the ease that a child has in the world.”
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the ATAMANIUK FUNERAL HOME, 40 Terrace Place, Brattleboro.u
