Kyle Gilbert Obituary
Pfc. Gilbert, 20, a lifelong resident of Brattleboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, during an attack in the Al Mansour district in Baghdad, Iraq.
The funeral will take place at St. Michael's Church on Walnut Street at 2 p.m. and is expected to last one hour. The funeral procession is planned to march with military and fire department honor guards from the church on Walnut Street, north on Putney Road (Route 5) to Black Mountain Road, ending at Locust Ridge Cemetery.
The Brattleboro Police Department is expecting traffic delays in the area of Main Street, Route 30, and Putney Road from Main Street to the roundabout from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.
To assist in making the procession run smoothly with the least inconvenience to the public there will be officers in the area. Motorists are asked to avoid the area of Putney Road and to be patient with the delays.

I read several stories about him including one about the bridge memorial dedication. My own son now serves as a Marine aviator, and I wish to offer my condolences on the loss of your son. He will not be forgotten--even by those who never knew him. Reading of your son's sacrifice gives me perspective on my niece's pursuit of an NCAA championship in the coming weeks. Dear Regina and Robert,
It has been one very troubling year for our selves and our country . Yet not one day goes by that we do not have Kyle in our thoughts . As his first anniversary approaches we still want you to know that we will always be there for you and your family and that no matter what happens we will never forget the bright smile of Kyle his Karate moves helping Ryan , Snowboarding and snowmobiling and just hanging out. It is unbearable to lose a child never mind a only son and child. OUr heart goes out to you both everyday. Kyle is a hero to all of us and as he wanted everyone to remember him we will NEVER FORGET the wonderful son that you have. OUr loves goes out to all of you GOD Bless YOu and YOur Family

GROWNING UP WITH YOUR SON WAS SOMETHING I WISH I HAD DONE MORE OFTEN. ASIDE FROM HIS GOOD NATURE, WONDERFUL SMILE AND MANY GREAT TALENTS KYLE, MY COUSIN, MY FRIEND MY INSPIRATION....HE WAS A GUIDE FOR WHAT I WANTED TO BE...AND THAT WAS THE BEST THAT I COULD BE, AT ANYTHING.
I MISS HIM, LIKE WE ALL DO...AND I STILL THINK OF HIME DAILY.
