Linda Raper Obituary

Linda Carlene Raper, 70, passed away on January 26 of complications from MS. She loved being alive and savored every part of it. A self-taught fabric artist, she dyed her own cloth and invented quilting patterns. She exhibited nationally, but her main goal was to brighten people's lives with functional art. She delighted in people; her conversations were open and generous. She loved baking, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and sailing. She was an accomplished singer in several styles: early/Renaissance music, choruses, Balkan folk, shape note, and an endless repertoire of rounds. Before MS took her legs she was a graceful and lively contradancer. She traveled around the globe. For many years she volunteered at the Westminster West School, and served as Chair of the Westminster West Public Library. She was above all a dear friend to the many people in her life, and leaves behind a loving family, including four beloved grandchildren. Memorial on Saturday, March 29, 1 pm, Guilford Community Church, 38 Church Dr., Guilford VT.

I'm so sorry to hear of Carlene's passing. We sang together decades ago in a small a cappella group, and she was always a lovely person. I admired her stunning quilts. I will be out of town for her service - wish I could be there.
