Louis Capy Obituary
Louis had an amazing and complicated mind. As an unconventional thinker, he both broadened others' perceptions and struggled to find his own place in this world.
He had a very soft heart underneath his stoic exterior, which showed in his love for children and animals, especially his dog Xavier. He was sometimes referred to as "Sweet Lou" by his friends.
He played lacrosse and football in high school. In addition to being naturally athletic, he was a good haggler by the age of 11, able to catch a barn cat by 13, and an experienced traveler throughout his whole life.
He had a deep connection to the universe, of which he is now fully a part.
Family and friends will host "Remembering Lou" outside on Monday, January 16th, 2-4, at his family's home on Covey Road in Brattleboro. Dress is casual and warm.

Dear Pierre and Ellen,
I am so sad to hear about Lou's passing and sending so much love to you and your family. I remember Lou coming to my house as a preschooler, full of energy and smiles, experiencing everything to the fullest. He was so curious. I remember when his sister was born he loved her so much and was serious about learning how to be a big brother. My hearts aches with yours for this loss. Much love.

I am so very sorry. Just hearing about this. shocking and heartbreaking. Louis was a deep thinker, a deep feeler and a forever adventurer. I remember him well and with eternal fondness as my 6th grade student. I think of you all and am sending so much love in this time of unbearable grief. I hold your family in the light as you traverse through this life altering and sad time. The world is a better place with Louis having been a part of it.

I remember the first day we were in Mexico, on our big family vacation, I was in the pool with Louis and Sam and Louis just swam right up to the bar and ordered a root beer!

I remember when I first moved to the US in elementary school, I was struggling to make good friends and feel at home as a result of the language and culture barrier. Then I ran into this kid named Louis. He was soft spoken, and always held a smile. When you meet Louis you immediately feel his innocence, his kindness and his sweet soul - all it takes is one conversation. "Where are you from?" He asked, "I´m from West Africa", "Where in West Africa?" He followed up. The only people that follow up to that response are adults, no kid has ever, but Louis did. I tell him, "I´m from Mali" to which he responds "Oh cool! I´ve never been there but I´ve been to Cameroon and I´m going this summer I love it there! Are you going this summer?" I´m sitting at my desk shocked at what I just heard, I couldn´t believe another kid my age in the school had been to Africa. Eventually I respond "No I won´t be there this summer." He shocks me again by saying "oh dude that sucks, next time we´re both in Africa we should hang out I want to visit Mali!" We just met, we just met and this kid who I now already feel a strong connection with, is inviting me to hang out in my home country. I remember being so happy. He was so interested with so many questions about Mali. We instantly became friends and exchanged stories throughout the years as we played video games online and football together. Louis was such a bright, amazingly unique, welcoming, loving and caring person. I wish I had more time on this earth with Louis. May he have peaceful time on his new journey.
