Marion Fournier

1928 - 2014 SPRINGFIELD, VT. Marion H. Fournier, 86, formerly of Charlestown, N.H., died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2014 surrounded by her family at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marion was born on Mar. 12, 1928 at the Mid-wife's House in North Westminster, Vt., the daughter of Charles N. and Ruth (Strong) Hurlburt. She attended schools in Bellows Falls and was a 1947 graduate of the Bellows Falls High School. From there she worked at the Bellows Falls Trust Co. and retired from the accounting department after more than 40 years of dedicated service. After retirement, she volunteered at the Charlestown Senior Center and spent her days with her husband and visiting with her sisters and friends. Marion was very active in her life. She was a member of TOPS of Chester, Vt., the Columbia Rebekah Lodge #21, lOOF of Springfield, Vt., Loyal Order of Eastern Star Alpha Chapter #53, American Legion Auxiliary Vt. #037, the United Church in Bellows Falls, Vt., and the Vermont Bankers Association 40 Year Club. The family wishes to thank the staff at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center for taking such great care of Marion these past four years, especially to Sue Bates, "Mother" loved her dearly. She is predeceased by the love of her life, Leo J. Fournier, Sr. whom she married in Bellows Falls, Vt. on Nov. 20, 1976; her stepson, Ernest Fournier; her siblings; Fred Otis Hurlburt, Helen White, Jean St. Lawrence, and George Hurlburt, Sr. Marion is survived by her older sister, Ruth Wright of Springfield, Vt. and her sister-in-law, Joanne Hurlburt of Walpole, N.H. Marion leaves behind her step-children, Leo and Linda Fournier of Enfield, Conn. and Linda and Moe Paquette of Milledgeville, Ga., along with her special "children", Jodi and Tom Rorison of Perkinsville, Vt., Jane Capron and Kay and Tim Johnson of Bellows Falls, Vt., and Monica and Gary Trombley of Swanton, Vt., and several other special nieces and nephews. Marion was grandmother to six beautiful grandchildren and she has 11 amazing great-grandchildren whom she adored. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be calling hours 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt. There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at the United Church in Bellows Falls, Vt.. The burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Marion's name to the Activities Fund at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center, 105 Chester Road, Springfield, Vt. 05156
