Martha,
Although I never knew you and your husband I am a friend of Tom's sister Cyndy. The phone call I received from her was heart wrenching. She spoke of her dear friend Martha often and I can remember when you were pregnant with Bo. My heart breaks for you and your family. Tom was too young to be taken so soon. Remember the good times and pass the wonderful memories you two shared along to Bo. Give Gail a HUGE hug for me and tell her that you are all in my prays. May God give you all strength and comfort during these difficult times.

Arnie and Family ~
Words cannot express the pain I feel for all of you , I lost my sister almost three years ago so I know that wrenching pain and sadness you are carrying and what its like unfortunatly to lose a sibling. My thoughts are with you , but he is here in your hearts and youll see, like I have with Vic what a teacher he will truly be in time to come . Its amazing the strength youll feel from him and his love for all of you .

Dear Schadler family and friends,
I spent years with Tom here in Santa Barbara. We were best friends.
We laughed together, went skiing in Tahoe, went to Vegas.
He was an amazing person and always there for you and me.
Tom and his best friend and roommate, John, shared also a special bond.
However, he never forgot about Martha.
I truly believe, was, and is the love of his life.
He had an old picture of the two together in his room when I first met him and I knew his heart belonged to her.
I am glad he went back home to find happiness, which he did.
I also remember cooking Rouladen for him and John, one of my favorite dishes, and wish him farewell and crying, because I would miss him a lot but also happy for him.
I will always miss him.

During this time of mourning, I would like to express my sincere condolence at the sudden loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in persistent prayers, as “the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers.” [Phil. 4:7] It's comforting to know that God cares for all of us and losing a loved one is something we cannot get used to. The Bible gives us hope that one day we can see our dear loved one again. On behalf of all mankind Jesus surrender his soul for many. John 15:13 says “No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul on behalf of his friends.” Truly I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and I hope these few words will bring you comfort and hope.

Dear Martha,
I feel so lucky to have seen you and Tom together. I could see in his smile and his eyes how much he loved you and how sincerely happy you both were. Remember that you gave him the most precious gifts in the world, your love and Bo. My last conversation with Tom was at our reunion and I have to say he was proud of all the boys, especially how Luke was doing as a Junior Firefighter. I am so, so sorry. My brother Tom called me last night and I'm still stunned. I saw Tom a few years back at the lake and it was like old times between Tom, Arn, my brother Tom and myself. My hear goes out to the Schadler family. So sorry and shocked to hear about my classmate, Tommy.
Always one of the first to enjoy the humor of our class every day!! Very intelligent and witty, along with that quick grin of his.
Seeing him again the weekend of our our class reunion and during the opening of our time capsule in 2000, was just wonderful.
Although it's been years since then, I still think about Vilas Jr. High and FMRHS on a regular basis, and Tommy will always be a part of the fun I remember back then.

I've known Tom's Mom, Gail, and his grandmom, Doris (Dot), since we were kids growing up together in Nedrow, NY.
I never had the good fortune to meet Tom, or any of your kids, Gail, but I know the quality family from which they came. May God and his angels receive your son, Honey, and comfort you all until you meet again in His eternal kingdom.

The last time I saw Tom was when we had a class reunion at Vilas Pool (2000) to view our time capsule which our class had put together back in 1976. (8th grade) It was fun seeing so many people that all grew up together. He being one of them.
