William Faucher Obituary

Hinsdale- William Henry, "Bill" Faucher, 80, of Old Stage Road died peacefully Monday morning, August 6, 2018 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative Care & Hospice at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon following an extended illness.

Bill was born in Webster, Massachusetts on February 13, 1938 the son of Roland and Cecile (Jacob) Faucher. He was raised in the Webster area and attended Notre Dame Parochial School in Southbridge. He had been a longtime resident of Hinsdale.

He had worked most of his career as a horse owner, trainer and driver in the harness horse racing circuit professionally competing at many racing venues along the entire east coast. Locally he raced at Hinsdale Raceway, The Meadowlands, Scarborough Downs, Rockingham Park as well as other east-coast race tracks.

A hardworking and skilled entrepreneur, he owned and operated several successful businesses that included; Hinsdale Harness (OTB), Faucher Paper Co., Faucher Trucking, and Route 63 Country Store all in the greater Hinsdale area.

Active civically he served two terms as a New Hampshire State Representative and was a steadfast promoter of harness horse racing.

Bill was an accomplished licensed private pilot and owned his own plane for several years.

Of his leisure time activities, he enjoyed travel, especially trips in his RV with family and close friends, visiting Disney World in Orlando, Florida, one of his favorite destinations, golfing and time shared with his family.

With his wife he was a communicant of Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church in Brattleboro.

On April 27, 1963 at Saint Joseph's Church in Hinsdale he married to Janet Wojchick who survives.

Besides his faithful and devoted wife of 55 years he leaves three daughters, Karen Gaddy of Louisville, Kentucky, Laurie Faucher of Concord, New Hampshire and Kelly Gilmartin of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, a nephew who he considered a son, Christopher Lord of Brattleboro, one brother, Roland Faucher of Bridgeport, Connecticut and a sister, Muriel Johnson of Hubbardston, Massachusetts.

Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as a large host of friends.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 A.M. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Justin Baker, pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Hinsdale.

Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 6 P.M.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Faucher's name may be made to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, N.H. 03756-0001.
