Carl Sellberg Obituary

BRISTOL

Carl R. Sellberg passed away on November 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bristol, CT on October 11, 1938 to Carl and Katherine Sellberg, Carl graduated Bristol High School before joining the United States Air Force in 1957 where he trained as a computer programmer. While proudly serving in the Air Force, Carl met the love of his life, Sharon. Married in 1960, Carl and Sharon started their long life together while stationed at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota. Carl was a loyal, dedicated, and generous individual who always put his family and friends first. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his beloved wife Sharon; his son, Christopher Sellberg and his partner Anne Balsewicz; his daughter, Heather Piteo and her husband, Michael; and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan Sellberg and wife, Beth, Lindsay Sellberg, Alli Sellberg, Alexander Piteo and Nicholas Piteo. Carl was also blessed with a great-grandson Bradley and eagerly awaited the arrival of another great-grandchild due this month. Carl was predeceased by his son, Carl R. Sellberg Jr. and by his sister Shirley Kerr. Following his service in the military, Carl landed employment with Computer Assistance, in the emerging computer programming field where he was able to put to use his new computer programming skills acquired in the Air Force. Carl grew the business ultimately landing him at Pricewaterhouse Coopers through acquisition. Carl flourished, ascending through leadership and was named Managing Partner of the consulting business. Carl begrudgingly retired in 1999. Throughout Carl's life, he always put family and friends first, whether enjoying a round of golf at Chippanee Country Club at father-son tournaments, a round of golf with his buddies, or enjoying the occasional golf excursion with Sharon; Pebble Beach and Saint Andrews were favorites, it was the time he spent with loved ones that was important. Carl spent winters with family and friends at their home in Marco Island, Florida. In retirement, Carl found a renewed appreciation for fishing and spent many days with friends chasing sport fish out of Marco Island. Friends may greet Sharon and family on Thursday November 7, 2024, directly at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 355 Camp Street, Bristol, CT 06010 at 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m., followed by a procession to Forestville Cemetery for his burial with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Carl's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation https://www.t2t.org, a charity dear to Carl for the very important help they provide to veterans and first responders.
