Catherine Marie Nelson (Kitty), a lifelong resident of East Berlin, passed away on

Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. She was the widow of Harry Nelson.

Born in East Berlin, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Rozanski) Pacyna. Catherine was a hard worker all of her life often working two or three jobs. She started by working at her familys business, Pacynas Dairy Bar in East Berlin and later was proud to be a Nurses Aid for eighteen years at New Britian

General Hospital. She retired from the State of CT Department of Revenue Services. Catherine was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin,

and the Marys Widows group at church. She also was a Food Share volunteer for many years.

Surviving are four sons, John Wojtusik and his wife Sue of Kensington, James Wojtusik of Northwood, NH, Joseph Wojtusik and his wife Beth of Middletown,

and Jeffrey Wojtusik and his dog Malibu of Middletown. Also surviving are a sister, Beverly Lucas and her husband Robert of Davenport, FL; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by two sisters, Aniela Pajor and Helen Stankoski; five brothers, Joseph Pacyna, Anthony Pacyna, Henry Pacyna, Francis Pacyna, and Edward Pacyna; and two infant siblings, Jan and Florence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, East Berlin. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Foodshare. Please share a

Dear Cousins and families:

I think of your devotion to your mom. She lives in your hearts forever. I think of her every day and the journey she traveled was sometimes not the best. She was a survivor. I missed her on our birthday.

I know she partied in Heaven: they shared a giant picnic with tons of potato salad and coleslaw. The drinks were flowing and polkas were playing. Maybe there was some cigarette smoking too...

Rest your minds that Chuchie is safe, happy, healthy, and with Jesus and Mary.

Kitty was a wonderful neighbor to us when we lived on Beckley Rd. A few days after we moved in, she drove up our driveway with fresh vegetables from the garden and welcomed us. Our family and friends always loved her holiday decorations too! We had some nice chats about her Pacyna family that I will remember forever. Rest in Peace Kitty and thank you.

We have so many fond memories of Kitty over the years. From our younger days at parties at 805 Beckley Road, the many pig roasts, Kitty and Harry´s wedding, cottage visits in RI and Thursday nights to bingo. She always had a smile for you, was more than happy to feed you and provided so many of us with a second home. Thank you Kitty for sharing yourself, your talents and home with us. We love you and we will miss you. To her family may your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
