Elaine Peabody

Elaine (London) Peabody of Bristol, Connecticut, passed away on November 4, 2025, at the age of 91. Elaine was born in Houlton, Maine, on February 17, 1934, graduating from the Ricker Classical Institute in 1952. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Violet London. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Ervin C. Peabody, who passed away in 2012. Ervin and Elaine moved to Bristol and raised their children while running a successful family business. Elaine is survived by her children and their spouses, Cynthia Tanis, Martin Peabody (Mary), Andrea Miller (Mike) and Nathan Peabody (Denise). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Leah Bergener, Justin Tanis, Drake Peabody (Kara), Grant Peabody (Brieanna), Alexandra Monahan (Sean), Natasha Peabody & Christianna Peabody. She was also able to enjoy her great grandchildren, Sadie & Wheels Bergener, Magin Peabody, Sawyer Peabody and Fallon Peabody. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her existence, and she enjoyed playing the role of ""Nanny"" to all of them. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and her sisters-in-law Kate Peabody and Pam Peabody. Elaine's only sister Celia Waldo passed in 2022. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Steve Tanis. Elaine loved to make her homemade breads, beans and everyone's favorite green tomato relish. While she shared these recipes with family, they were never quite the same. She loved to shop and always dressed as if she was ready to take on the world. She would readily say she lived life to the fullest having traveled extensively with her husband, Ervin, for many years and enjoying the company of their numerous friends. She was an active member of the Bristol Baptist Church for many years. A graveside service will be held at Peacedale Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
