James Lausier Obituary

BRISTOL

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of James Jim Albert Lausier, Sr., 80, of Bristol, beloved husband of Judi Ann (Spirito)

Lausier on January 10, 2026. Jim dedicated his life to the enrichment of nature, creating possibilities and sharing knowledge. He was a design engineer, insurance agent, landscaper, fundraiser, husband, uncle and Papa. Jim was most at peace spending his time outdoors. He was a member of Copper Ledges Tennis Assoc., an avid golfer, skier and amateur photographer of nature. He cherished family reunions, Mt. Washington hikes, competitive backyard games and splitting wood while looking for any project to complete as long as it was outside. For 22 years Jim served on the Environmental Learning Centers of CT (ELCCT)/ Indian Rock board of directors; fifteen years as vice president and chairman of their annual comedy night fundraiser, in addition to helping other local charities. Raised in Southington, he graduated from St. Anthony's High School, then attended Porter School of Engineering & Design landing a job at The Torin Corporation in Torrington for a few years before beginning his career as an insurance agent and manager, primarily with Prudential Insurance for 23 years. At 60 years old, retirement was not of interest and he started his own company, 4 Seasons Landscaping and Maintenance, where he was still doing fall clean-ups 5 months ago. In addition to his wife he leaves a daughter, Rebecca Talbot and husband Steve of Bristol, a son, James (Jamie) Lausier, Jr. of Oxford, grandson Dr. Ethan Talbot, wife Kate and two great-grandchildren Teddy and Amelia of Cooperstown, NY and grandson Isaac Talbot and girlfriend Melissa Abramsky of Bristol along with his first wife, Joann (Bossi) Lausier of Ashville, NC. He is predeceased by his parents Albert and Jeanne (Guerrette) Lausier. Also survived by his wife's family, sister-in-law Laurie and Jud Knox of York, ME, nephew Kyle and wife Gloria Clark of Boston, MA; nephew Samuel and wife Nadia Clark of Copenhagen, Denmark and niece Emma (Clark) and husband Max Silberlicht of Portsmouth, NH., brothers-in-law, Harry Spirito and late wife Cynthia Collins of Mason, Ohio and Bill Dargin and his late wife, JoAnne (Jo-Jo) Spirito of York, ME. Along with his sisters Judy and late husband Joe Ulrich of Plainville, CT, Lynda and husband Sebby Milano of Southington and Susan Wydra of Bristol. Additionally, those left to honor his memory and legacy include several extended family members and friends that surrounded him with the love of nature and adventurous spirit - Rob, Evelyn, Mark, Bob & Cheryl, Scott & Lori, Bobby & Maribel and Annie. Jim's many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends will miss him dearly. He will forever be remembered for his genuine warmth, selflessness to help others, passion for nature, camping and rafting trips and his mentorship that touched and impacted so many individuals. Relatives and friends of Jim and family are invited to calling hours on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 between 4 and 7 p.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT. Additional respects can be made at St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol, at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.. All attendees are asked to go directly to the church.
