John Spisak Obituary

BRISTOL

John Andrew Spisak Jr., 85, of Bristol, CT, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on June 8th, 2023. John was the beloved patriarch of a large family. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy Barbara Wharton, and his eldest son, John Michael Spisak. John was born at home in New Britain, CT, to his late father, John Andrew Spisak Sr., and Mary Ondrick. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Philip Martindale, Steven Spisak, Andrew Spisak, Joseph Spisak, and his sister Regina Frazier. John is survived by his youngest sibling, whom he cherished, Rosemary Rassano, and her husband, William.

He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Nan Rothkugel, and her husband, Fran, his son Danny Robert Spisak Sr., and his wife, Cathy. John's grandchildren include Philip Paul Rothkugel Sr. and his wife Jackie, Danny Robert Spisak Jr., Melissa Rothkugel, David Andrew Spisak and his wife Meagan, Daryl John Spisak and his partner Kevin, Robin Noel Rothkugel, and Joshua Michael Rothkugel.

John took great pride in being a great grandfather to 14: Philip Paul Rothkugel Jr., Araiha Faith Rothkugel, Tristain John Rothkugel, Noah Rosevelt Rothkugel, Sophia Nan Rothkugel, Caleb Francis Rothkugel, Samantha Spisak, Kayden Spisak, Davin Spisak, Kylan Spisak, Mairin Spisak, Eilidh Spisak, and Landin Michael Spisak.

Besides his family, John had a deep passion for the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and horse lover. John enjoyed playing the guitar, family gatherings, golfing, dancing, bowling, jai alai, and spending time with his family and friends, including JM, Dan, Sonny, Steve, Fred Waag, Bob Koonze, and George Kupstas. His beagles, Miss Adaline Rose, Sir Blue Rebel, and Miss Precious Noel were also dear to his heart.

John will be greatly missed by his large extended family, including nieces, nephews, and many others. He was a man who was deeply loved and respected. This includes his late wife Nancy's family, as we are all united in our love for one another, which will endure.

In accordance with John's final wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest next to his wife and eldest son in the family plot. The burial will be a private ceremony organized by his loving family. John wanted everyone to celebrate life, as he believed he was a truly blessed and fortunate man to have had the time he did on this earth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Research and Prostate Cancer Foundation, causes that were close to his heart.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to John's grandson, Daryl Spisak and his partner Kevin, for their unwavering support and presence during this time of need. Their love and care meant the world.

So sad to hear this news. John and I grew up together in Mt. Pleasant Project and we fished and hunted in the woods together. Great guy to have known. My sympathy to his family and friends
