TERRYVILLE
Leonard Lenny P. Bagni, 99, of Terryville, formerly of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Southington Care Center. He was the beloved widower of the late Jennie (Goleniewski) Bagni, to whom he was married for over 60 years.
He was predeceased by his sister, Olive Delekta. Leonard was born in Bristol on November 7, 1926, and was the son of the late Giovanni John and Adele (Elazzi) Bagni. He was educated in Bristol schools and graduated from Bristol High School. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy, where he served his country during WWII. Leonard was extremely proud of his Naval service and loved to share stories of his experiences as a sailor. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he attended the Bristol Vocational School and obtained his electrician's certification. He was an accomplished electrician, and it was his lifelong career from which he retired as a member of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 90. Leonard was a faithful communicant and long-time usher at St. Anthony Church- Saint Francis DeSales Parish in Bristol and was a 70-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Palos Council #35. He was an avid golfer at Pequabuck Golf Club, where he was a member for over 75 years and served as President and Officer. After retiring as an electrician, Lenny worked with the grounds crew at Pequabuck until the age of 90. In 2019, Leonard was awarded the Charles Chuck McCarthy Award by The Bristol Tramps. Leonard was a longtime UCONN Women's Basketball Team fan, having had season tickets since 1985. No snowstorm would stop him from traveling from Bristol to a UCONN game. In his spare time, he loved to tend to his garden, take care of his beautiful flowers, cook delicious meals for his family, and enjoyed and excelled at painting-by-numbers, which he continued to do until recently. He was so proud of his paintings, and they were admired by many. It was time spent with his family that he cherished the most. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him special joy. Although proud of his Naval service and paintings, Leonard was a humble and generous man and was called a gentleman by many who knew him. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
Leonard is survived by his 6 children: Leonard Bagni and his wife, Carolyn of Murrietta, CA, Thomas Bagni and his wife, Martha of Calabash, NC, Joyce Tomasetti and her husband, Larry of Terryville, John Bagni of Bristol, James Bagni and his beloved friend, Kyle Swann of Manchester, and Donna Eurbin of Norwich.
