Richard Kellert Obituary
Richard Martin Kellert, Jr, 91 of Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Bristol Hospital.
He was born on February 19, 1932 in Bristol, son of the late Richard M. and Hazel (Hough) Kellert, Sr. Richard was the loving husband of the late Rita (Amelotte) Kellert until her passing in 1995.
Richard served our country in the US Army and was a lifetime member of the Burlington Men's Club, the VFW in Englewood, FL, the Elks Club and the Moose Club. He was a CT State Fire Marshall while also being the Burlington Fire Chief for 17 years. Richard was the owner of Kellert's Fuel, Oil and Trucking Company for over 25 years.
Richard raised Morgan Horses at Stardom Farm for 20 years while showing them throughout New England. Richard is survived by his son Robert "Bob" Kellert and his spouse Mary Cockriel of CO; daughters Carol Cahill and her husband Steven of Bristol, Linda Kellert of Plainville; grandchildren Robert Kellert, Jacqueline Craine and her husband David, Christopher Cahill and his wife Kelly, Jennifer Lane and her husband Aaron, Melissa Barkauskas and her husband Mitch, Adam Cassille and his fiance Megan Driscoll, Trevor Cahill and his wife Rebecca; great-grandchildren Damon, Collin, Grayson, Ashlyn, Brecklyn, Carter, Bennett, Coltan and McKayli. Besides his wife and parents, Richard is predeceased by his brother Willard Kellert.
A funeral will begin at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol on Friday, April 14, 2023 starting at 10AM until a service that will begin at 12PM. Burial and military honors will follow at Burlington Center cemetery, Burlington.
