Stephen Savino Obituary

Stephen Savino, Sr. 92, widower of Mafalda (Decrisantis) Savino of Canton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023. He was born on Dec. 16, 1930 in Bristol, the son of the late Domenic and Lucy (Vasile) Savino. Stephen served with the United States Marine Corps. He owned a gas station with his brother-in-law. He worked for the Barnes Group, Inc. for 30+ years, while also working part-time with cousins in the sanitation business.
In 1986 he retired from the Barnes Group and started working alongside his sons at Northeast Towers, Inc. for the next 33 years. Lived by the motto "Don't do it if you're not going to do it right, don't waste your time!" Respected by all, strong-minded, hardworking, honorable, principled, a man of integrity, a man of his word, always available to lend a helping hand. He had a smile that would light up a room. He loved camping with his children and extended family and friends, country/bluegrass music, a diehard FORD man, trips to the casino and scratch tickets, but most of all family gatherings and trips with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Stephen Jr. and Lori Savino of Bloomfield, Marylou and Henry MacDonald of Torrington, and Joseph and Deborah Savino of Canton; his grandchildren, Dario Savino, Crystal Massicott and her husband Sean, Stephen Savino, III and his wife Charlene, Devon Savino, Garret Savino, Gabriella Savino, Nathaniel Savino, Isabella Savino and Brayden Savino; his great-grandchildren Stephen IV, Alexander and Isabel; his sister and brother-in-law Lucy and Carmen Bascetta on Winstead, his brother Michael and sister-in-law Cindy of Bristol; Decrisantis sisters-in-law Rose and Tom Komanetsky and Claire Nocera, along with many beloved nieces and nephews from both families. He is predeceased by his siblings Katherine Fox, Anna Zaephel, Domenic Savino, and Josephine Fortier, as well as Decrisantis family members Yolanda Delfino, Albina Penda, Angelo Decrisantis, Anthony Decrisantis, Alessio Decrisantis Jr, and Marie Lejeune.
