Steven D'Amore Obituary
Steve D'Amore
NEW BRITAIN
Steve D'Amore, age 68, of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in a small village in Abbateggio, Abbruzo Italy. Steve immigrated to the United States at the age of three. The warmth, humor, grit, and unbreakable work ethic of his Italian roots defined him every day of his life.
He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and wouldn't leave the house if they were playing. A fandom that grew out of his own childhood athletics. Steve was a standout athlete in his youth, wearing number 45 for the Pulaski High Generals, he was a fierce and celebrated running back. He earned All-State honors and left an indelible mark on the football field with his speed, strength, and heart.
Steve was married for nearly five decades to his childhood sweetheart, Kathleen, whose loss in 2017 left an unfillable void, but together they built a vibrant, laughter-filled life surrounded by family and a circle of lifelong friends.
Steve was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen D'Amore; his father Giuseppe D'Amore; his Aunt Palmerina Dell'Oso and her husband Valeriano Dell'Oso; his Uncle Dante and his wife Eva D'Amore; and his Uncle Mario D'Amore.
He is survived by his mother, Carina D'Amore of New Britain; his son, Steven D'Amore, and his wife Alyssa Gagnon-D'Amore, of Bristol; his son James D'Amore of New Britain; his brother, Nick D'Amore, and his wife, Kim D'Amore, of Burlington; his sister, Donna D'Amore-Fleury, and her husband, Thomas Fleury, of East Hartford; his sister, Sandra D'Amore-Abucewicz, and her husband, Richard Abucewicz, of Asbury, NJ; his Aunt Marie D'Amore from Berlin, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly and will miss his infectious personality.
Throughout his career, Steve worked proudly in the aerospace industry before retiring from Stanley Works.
To those who knew him best, especially his sons, Steve was a truly unique character: a fun-loving, charismatic man whose boisterousness lit up every room. Even in the face of adversity, he met life head-on with the same tenacity he once showed carrying a football down the field.
Steve's legacy is one of strength, loyalty, and love a life well-lived that will continue to inspire those closest to him.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 11 a.m. at the Luddy & Peterson's Funeral home, 205 South Main Street, New Britain.
