ALBERTO DIAZ DE LEON Obituary
Dr. Alberto Diaz de Leon R., M.D. F.A.C.S., 85, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his residence in Brownsville.
Dr. Diaz de Leon a native of San Luis Potosi, Mexico had been a longtime resident of Brownsville. He was a well-known and respected member of our community having served the Rio Grande Valley and Matamoros as a surgeon for over 50 years.
Dr. Diaz de Leon had privileges in Brownsville hospitals.
Dr. Diaz de Leon was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Dr. Diaz de Leon is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Nancy Diaz de Leon; a daughter, Claudia Isela Lenz and her husband Adam Lenz M.D. and a son, Alberto Diaz de Leon III M.D. and his wife Sarah Diaz de Leon M.D.; two brothers, Amonario Diaz de Leon M.D. and Hector Diaz de Leon M.D., and a sister Belia Asiain as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday evening at Darling-Mouser.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Dr. Alberto Diaz de Leon III, Dr. Adam C. Lenz, Mario Fernandez, Mario Gonzalez, Jesus Lerma, and Robert Garcia are honored to be serving as Dr. Diaz de Leon's pallbearers. Dr. Enrique Trapp will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Nancy, My deepest condolences in your recent loss. I will alway remember the kind,professional and dedicated person he was. He always had that great smile when we ran into each other and sat with me for a quick chat. He was a great mentor to me as well as a good friend. I will miss him but he is at peace now. Nancy, I was so sorry to hear that Dr. Diaz de Leon had passed away. I pray to our Lord that he has welcomed him home, as he so righteously earned HIS entry to heaven by being such a great man, husband, dad and friend. I had had the pleasure of seeing him recently this past year, and as always he was so friendly.. May he rest in peace and thank GOD for having blessed you with him as your husband.

My heart goes out to you all! Nancy, you and Dr. Alberto were one of the first couples that Marco and I had the privilege of knowing together. The kindness, elegance and dignity that you both showed us captured the beauty of being in Brownsville! Such wonderful memories! Marco often expressed, too, his admiration and appreciation for you and Dr. Alberto while he began his career and practice of Podiatry here in the Valley! Although I haven't seen you recently, you are in my thoughts and prayers as you begin your walk though this difficult journey! Gather strength from your family, friends, and from Jesus Christ our Savior who calls to all who are weak and heavy laden! He will carry you through it all if you put your faith in Him.
