BROWNSVILLE - Linda Norma Hernandez entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, the 24th of October 2025 in Brownsville, Texas. She was 73 years of age.
Norma, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was a retired paraprofessional of the Brownsville Independent School District. She worked at Cromack Elementary for over 40 years where she loved working in Special Education.
Born and raised in Brownsville, Texas where she resided for her whole life, she was proud of her community and her friends and family. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church who shared her faith with others any opportunity she got. She had the gift of making others feel loved, valued, and important no matter who they were. She made everyone feel special in her life.
Norma loved to garden when she could, but her greatest accomplishment was being the greatest dedicated mother and caregiver to her daughter Jennifer Lee Hernandez. Jennifer was her whole life and everyone who knew her knew this fact. She will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her kind and giving spirit, and her profound capacity for forgiveness. Her legacy of love will live on through her daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
Preceding Norma in death are her parents, Roberto Rocha and Josefa Ramos Rocha, and her siblings, Olivia Rocha, Roberto Rocha, Jr., Ruben Rocha, Sr. (Ana Maria Martinez Rocha+), Rene Arcadio Rocha (Nelda Godoy Rocha+), Graciela Rocha, Rodolfo Rocha, and Raul Jose Rocha.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Judith Ann Garcia (Feliciano Tapia Garcia, Jr.) and Jennifer Lee Hernandez; her grandchildren, Feliciano Tapia Garcia III (Laura Gail Capacio Ebarle Garcia), Teresa Marie Leija (Alexis Leija), and Alejandra Rosa Garcia; her great-grandchildren, Romeo Andres Leija and Kairo Gabriel Garcia; her sister, Julia Elvia Rocha Ybarra (Reynaldo Ybarra, Sr.+); her brother, Rogelio Alberto Rocha (Rosalinda Doria Rocha); as well as numerous extended family members.
Visiting hours were held on Monday, the 27th of October 2025 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary recited at seven o'clock Monday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 28th of October 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2405 E. Tyler Street, Brownsville. Interment followed, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.

Honorary pallbearers were George Armando Saldaña, Alexis Leija, and Ricardo Raul Ybarra.
The Garcia/Hernandez Family would like to thank Maribel Quiroz, Sophie Arroyo, and the Martinez Family for going above and beyond supporting our family this whole past year. We would also like to thank the Ybarra Family, Aunt Evie, and the entire family for always visiting when called and supporting us through this past week. Thank you to her "most bestest friend" George Saldaña, for always being there and keeping her strong through her toughest times; thank you to Angie Leal, who never failed to come to her aid when she needed her the most as well; and lastly thank you to Roman Ybarra, who without you, we would never have had one more year with my mom. We will eternally be grateful. - Judith and Jenny
