Margaret Penelope Redwine, 72, of Ocean Isle Beach, passed away March 20, 2022, surrounded by her friends and family. Margaret, or as her friends knew her, Penny, was born on Jan. 18, 1950, to Litz and Elizabeth Taylor in Monroe, and immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Penny graduated from Monroe High School and then graduated with a degree in art from East Carolina University and was a sister of the Chi Omega sorority. Penny fell in love with art and teaching, where she shared her knowledge with the students of Brunswick County, starting art programs at high schools. She then turned to bringing fashion and design to Ocean Isle Beach, opening a successful clothing store, Island Wearhouse, and pursuing a career in interior design at Island Classics. Quick to volunteer her time and talents, she joined the Shallotte Junior Women's Club in 1974 serving on the arts committee and in 1998 she became a charter member of the South Brunswick Island Woman's Club. Penny made many lifelong friends through her civic work. She was an active member of Shallotte Presbyterian Church, an elder and used her expertise in interior design to decorate the new church. In 1971, she met David Redwine and the two were inseparable from that point on. David and Penny were married for just under 50 years and had three children, Erin, Mandy and Austin. Penny was a fiercely dedicated mom to all of her children, raising all three of them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Penny a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. Penny was predeceased by her father, Litz Taylor. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Taylor; her sister, Beth Mumford (Jim); her husband, David; her three children, Erin McRoberts (Jay), Mandy Redwine and Austin Redwine (Carey); and her six grandchildren, Emma Lockner, Luke McRoberts, Maggie McRoberts, Hayes Redwine, Evie McRoberts and Hollis Redwine. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Penny's name to South Brunswick Islands Woman's Club for "Penny's Passion" Arts Education at P.O. Box 1174, Shallotte, NC 28459 or SECU Hospice House at 955 Mercy Lane SE, Bolivia, NC 28422. Please send online condolences to
