Norman Melanson Obituary

Norman Ralph Melanson, 71, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, after a long fight with cancer.
Norm enjoyed golfing with his friends at Sea Trail and belonged to the Grand Strand Seniors Golf association. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9039 in Shallotte, and Fourth Degree Assembly 3115 at St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church in Shallotte.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Leah Melanson, along with brothers, Romeo and Roland Melanson, and sisters, Lucille Melanson and Leatrice Liposky.
Norm is survived by his wife Betsy; his children, Matthew, Christopher, Douglas and wife, Stephanie, Debbie Riccio and husband, John, Cinthia Burton, Carrie Verrelli and husband, Joe. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann; brother, Frank; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church, with visitation starting at 10:15 a.m. in the gathering space at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter for SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
