Bonnie Proctor Obituary

Bonnie Coleman Proctor, 79, passed away on March 3, 2023 peacefully in her home surrounded by her three daughters and special caregiver.

Bonnie was a kind-hearted woman, a loving mother and wife who spoiled her grandchildren without complaint. (A little too much). She was a truly selfless mother who loved with all of her heart and soul. She would always give her best advice to her daughters whether they wanted it or not. If they chose not to adhere to the advice and ended up in trouble, she would never say, " I told you so!" She would simply say,"Ok, what can I do to help?"

She was sweet with a side of spunk. She always had a smile on her face and made those around her smile. If you knew her, you knew where you stood. If you asked her opinion, you would certainly get it (and sometimes even if you didn't ask) She truly wanted those around her to be joyful, have fun, and enjoy each and every day.

Bonnie enjoyed walks on the beach and collecting shells to bring home (so many shells) She enjoyed reading books, sitting among her plants and flowers and riding in her red convertible.

She was a collector of antiques and many unique things- many of which we have no idea what to do with. She loved her bunnies, unicorns, flamingos, crabs, and Georgia Bulldogs.

She was a huge member and supporter of her community. She was Grand Marshall of the Christmas parade and Seafood Festival Chair and Committee Member for over 20 years. She also served the city in many other capacities and organizations. Being a Fire Chief's daughter, she was especially proud of the Richmond Hill Fire and Police Departments.

She was the forever nurse. Caring for those around her and telling them when they needed medical attention and what medicine might help their ailments. (And she was usually right) Even in her last days, she was telling her caregivers how to care for her using medical terms; " my midline scapula is hurting " She truly was born to care for people.

She will be incredibly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her and her beautiful spirit. Her wish was to be remembered and celebrated with joy and happiness and not sadness. We know for sure she is in Heaven celebrating with the love of her life, Bob.

She is survived by her three daughters: Tina Register Hill, Teresa Lynn Woods (Richard Woods), Tanya Renee Meguiar (Richard Meguiar) Grandchildren: Chris Spivey (Chari Spivey), Spencer Woods, Trey Meguiar, Alec Meguiar, Sean Woods, and Maecy Meguiar. Great Grandchildren: Cash Spivey, Cage Spivey. Sister Brenda Coleman Hill (Ledford Hill); Special and dear friend: Shirley Heagerty, Special caregivers: Margaret Olson, Donna Garcia, and Kim Elmgren.

Graveside burial will take place Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in her hometown of Eastman, Georgia at 12:00, Woodlawn Cemetery.

A "Celebration of Life" will take place Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home. Visitation 6:00-7:00. Service to follow at 7:00.

The family will be setting up a fund for a Bonnie Proctor Memorial Flower Garden in the city of Richmond Hill in her honor. Our wish is for it to be filled with beautiful flowers for people to enjoy and share in her memory. In her very own witty words she requested "No wimpy flowers!"

We are so sorry to hear of Bonnie's passing. She was our next-door neighbor in Mill Run for years, and also a fellow member of the Richmond Hill Exchange Club for many years. She was truly one of the nicest people I have ever known, and will be sorely missed.
