Janet Sasser Bazemore passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at home.
The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Clarance and Gladys Sasser. She retired from the U.S. Logistics Department at Fort Stewart. As the daughter of a military father, she traveled and lived in many interesting places, such as Alabama, Washington, D.C., Alaska, Fort Walden Beach, Fla., St. Louis, Mo., San Francisco, Calif., Karumusel, Turkey, and Athens, Greece. She had a great love of travel and continued to do so throughout her life. Known to her friends and family as Jan, she showed great love and compassion to people and especially to animals. She adopted many abandoned and sheltered animals throughout her life. She loved being with her pets, walking in the woods and spending time at the beach. She loved to read and was happy to share her knowledge and books with friends and strangers. She also loved to exercise and workout with her friends. She loved deeply and always stretched out her hand to those in need.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving aunt, fondly called "Sister," Verna Johnson; and her beloved husband, Randall H. Bazemore.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Michelle Bacenas (Tom) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Tracy Bacenas (Jason) of Ottawa, Canada; two grandchildren, Andrew and Dylan of Ottawa,Canada; a brother, Gregory Earl (Shari) Sasser; loving mother-in-law; Bessie Bazemore; sisters-in-law, Brenda (Milton) Smith and Bonnie Kay (Robert) Hughes, both of Pembroke; special nieces and nephews, Joseph Hughes, Savana Hughes, Ernesto Bautista, Amie Bautista, Sayanna Bautista, Faith Bautista, Dave Shuman, Melissa Shuman and Grant Shuman; numerous other relatives; and a special friend, Libby Williamson.
A private memorial service was held Dec. 10 at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home in Pembroke.
