Robert Kenneth Carpenter (Bobby), 89, passed away at home on June 25, 2021 after an extended illness. Bobby was born in Keller, GA on October 20, 1931. He graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Bobby served as Postmaster of the Richmond Hill Post Office and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990. He was a member of Richmond Hill First Baptist Church, having joined in believer's baptism at age 13.
Bobby was active in the community that he loved. He served as President of Bryan Neck Cemetery Association for 50 years; Church Treasurer for 25 years; Coastal EMC Foundation Board; a member of the Bryan County Board of Education, and a member of the DP Club.
Bobby was a Christian and lived his life being the hands and feet of Jesus. He found joy in the simplest pleasures – being outdoors, fishing, telling jokes, spending time with family and friends, and reminiscing about Richmond Hill days of old. He enriched the lives of all who knew and loved him and leaves a legacy of kindness, gentleness, patience, faith, and love.
Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara C. Shepard (Billy); parents, Erwin and Addie Pearl Carpenter; stepfather, Theodore Carpenter; brother, Harry Carpenter (Jackie); and sister, Evelyn Carpenter Fox (Leonard).
Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Flora Jean Carpenter; daughter, Beverly Carpenter; sons, Ken and Russ Carpenter; grandchildren, Nicole DiFiore, Erica Birchall (Riley), Candace Shepard, Tyler Shepard (Missy), all of Richmond Hill, Julia Craig (Jacob) of Tennessee, and Kody Carpenter of New York; his adored baby sister, Bertie Rahn of Richmond Hill; 15 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Richmond Hill First Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Richmond Hill First Baptist Church, with private interment to occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Richmond Hill First Baptist Church, c/o Finance, Post Office Box 1390, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.

Love and prayers for peace to all the Carpenter family. Mr. Bobby was such a special person. I remember going I to the old post office when I was too short to see over the counter and he would always stop what he was doing to say hello and offer his warm smile. We sat behind the Carpenter family at church every Sunday. What a joy to have grown up knowing and loving Beverly, Ken, Barbara, Russ, Mrs. Flora Jean and Mr.Bobby. And Mrs. Bertie , oh what a sweet lady. Thinking of you all and sending a hug.

Sending love and prayers to the Carpenter family. Bobby Carpenter was no ordinary guy. He was loved by all that he encountered. He was surely one of my favorite patients from the very first day I met him on which he started with a joke and it was indeed funny. I was with great honor to have been able to impact on his life caring for him as a patient. He became my friend. He will be forever remembered and I know that his family will keep his legacy alive. I sadly say, take your place in heaven Mr Carpenter and REST IN PEACE. Love, Andrea

We all know that loss is a part of life, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Bobby fought a long hard battle and is now with our Lord. Miriam has known him most of her life and he was one of the first people I met 52 yrs. ago when I moved to RH. Bobby was always fun to talk and laugh with. He was a fun loving, family man and Christian that loved the Lord. We have been blessed to have him and his family as friends. Rest In Peace Bobby and may your family and friends know how much you were loved.

Bobby’s love of life, family and church made him a remarkable friend to all. Still laugh at his jokes, humor and tales of fishing.
I know that God has welcomed him with open arms and his is reunited with one of my beloved best friend, his daughter, Barbara.
Bobby fought a long battle and now it is time to Rest In Peace.
Much love to Flora Jean, Russ, Beverly, Ken and the rest of the family.

Mr Bobby was a wonderful man to all who knew him. He was such a Godly man, a great role model to all, and a generally good person all around. He will be greatly missed. He had such a great humor and was very entertaining every time I ever saw him. I will always remember certain catch phrases and things he has said to me through the years. I know he is at peace and happy today with the Lord and he's being entertained by Barbara every minute. Rest in Peace Mr. Bobby. Say hello to my Dad.
