Steven Warnell Obituary
Steven Bryan Warnell passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
He was born May 12, 1981. A native of Bryan County, he made his home in Blitchton. He graduated high school from Trident Academy in Mount Pleasant, S.C. He was employed by Warnell Logging. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an expert horseman and competed in many NCHA cutting horse competitions. In 1996, he won the $50,000 Amateur Any Age making him the youngest winner in show history. In 1999, he achieved a record-setting victory in the Area 18 Youth Scholarship Cutting at the Augusta Futurity. He was also a devoted fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn H. Warnell; his brother, Harold Brooks Warnell III; his grandparents, Harold Brooks and Frances Warnell; and grandfather, Bert Hampton.
He is survived by his father, Harold Brooks Warnell Jr. of Blitchton; two sons, Hunter Brooks Warnell and Steven Austin Warnell; grandmother, Estelle Hampton of Savannah; brother, Kenneth Hampton Warnell of Maryville, Tenn.; fiancée, Jamie Bragg of Blitchton; uncle, Herbert (Karen) Warnell of Blitchton; cousins, Fran (Corey) Parker of Pembroke and Sarah Warnell of Blitchton; and extended family and many friends.
A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Groveland Cemetery in Groveland.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home in Pembroke.
Remembrances may be made to Area 18 Youth Scholarship Cutting Fund, Atlantic Coast Cutting Horse Assoc., P.O. Box 936, Augusta, GA. 30903.

I am so sorry to learn of Steve passing away.I was his basketball coach at Trident Academy. He was a very hard worker and our best defensive player. He also was a great person to be around. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I knew Steve from Trident Academy where I was one of his teachers. He was such a nice young man. I do remember his love of horses and riding. Since hearing of Steve's death, my thoughts and prayers have been for you and your family.

Dear Brooks,
My heart breaks for you and your family. I just found out about Steve and wish I had known so I could have been there on Sunday. Steve was always a ray of sunshine at Trident Academy - a great athlete, and we all remember his love of riding and being in rodeos. He touched so many lives, and I'm truly blessed to have had him in mine. Know that my thoughts and prayers will continue to flow. God's Grace and Angels Wings, Brooks.
