Gerald L. "Mick" Vollmer, age 89, of Edgerton passed away at his home on Monday, July 22, 2024, with his family at his side. Mick was a lifelong farmer and member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where he held many offices. He also was a Farmer Township Trustee for 16 years and drove school bus for Central Local Schools for 26 years. He enjoyed puzzles and playing cards in his free time.
Gerald L. Vollmer was born Jan. 21, 1935, at home in Farmer Township, Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Adrian E. and Dorothy A. (Manon) Vollmer. He was a 1954 graduate of Farmer High School. He married Marilyn L. Musser on September 9, 1955, and she preceded him in death on July 29, 1985. He later married Donna B. Appel on July 16, 1988, and she survives.
Mick is survived by his children, Marcia (Mark) Haaff, of New Haven, Indiana, Joy (Thomas) Graney, of Springfield, Illinois, Gary (Deb) Vollmer, of Hicksville, Ohio, and Gloria (Tim) Bockelman, of Beaufort, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Kendra Vollmer, Kelcy (Josh) Oesterreich, Kierstin Bockelman, Christopher Bockelman, Taylor Haaff and Kiel Graney; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Oesterreich; and a brother, Carl (Janet) Vollmer, of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and brothers, Bob and Gene Vollmer.
Visitation for Gerald "Mick" Vollmer will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 W. Mulberry St., Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1018 Cicero Road, Edgerton, Ohio, with the Rev. Daniel Broaddus officiating. Burial will follow at Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio.
The family requests memorial contributions to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or CHP Home Care and Hospice.
