Jean McMasters (Warncke), age 86 of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by loved ones!
She was born on Sept. 28, 1938, to Walter and Thelma (Mercer) McMasters in Clayton, New Mexico. Jean earned her nursing degree from Northwest State Community College then worked as an LPN for Community Hospital of Williams County, Ohio Art, Campbell Soup Co. and the Defiance Clinic. She graduated from Breckenridge Training School in Morehead, Kentucky.
Jean was married to LeRoy Warncke for 39 years, they then divorced. LeRoy passed away in 2010.
Jean is survived by her loving daughters, Tammy Lynn (Lyle) Davis of Denver, Indiana, and Patricia Ann Taylor of Auburn, Indiana; granddaughters, Grace Davis and Sydnie Taylor; sister, Kay Adkins of Delta; brother, Scott McMasters of Sun Lakes, Arizona; her special friend, Danny Zeedyk of Sherwood; and her dog, Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Ann Henderson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, from 3-7 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, at the funeral home, with one hour of additional visitation before the service. Jan will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.
