Marilyne June Underwood, age 96, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at Majestic Care of Bryan, where she was a resident. Marilyne was born June 29, 1929, in Stryker, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herbert S. and Vera H. (Kuszmaul) Coy. She was a 1947 graduate of Stryker High School. Marilyne married Elvin "Bob" C. Underwood on Nov. 27, 1948, in Pioneer, Ohio, and they enjoyed 55 years marriage until Bob's passing on June 8, 2004. Marilyne worked as an inspector at Spangler Candy Company for 31 years. She was a member of Victory Barn Church and a woman of deep faith. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and was a lifelong learner. She loved discovering new books, exploring new ideas, and believed there was always something more to learn. Her curiosity and love of reading stayed with her throughout her life. Marilyne was a devoted mother and grandmother and was loved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by many friends and family, but she leaves behind a priceless collection of memories that will be forever cherished.
Surviving is her daughter-in-law, Karen (Michael) Leininger of Stryker, Ohio; five grandchildren, Anthony (Kelly) Underwood, Robert (Missy) Underwood and Daniel "DJ" (Sarah) Underwood, Tracie (Brian) Schoolmaster and Lance (Autumn) Underwood; six great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Roger) Lilly of Antwerp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, James Herbert Underwood and Robert Elvin Underwood; daughter, Sophia Maria Underwood; brother, Charles "Junior" Coy; sister, Marcella Baker.
Visitation for Marilyne J. Underwood will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, from 10 a.m.-noon at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 N. Lynn St. in Bryan. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Roseseen Mosely officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to the Victory Barn Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
