Noble Daniel Bertalon, age 84, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at Traverse Manor in Traverse City, Michigan. He was born July 29, 1940, in Pittsford on the family farm, to John and Pauline (Smith-McGinnis) Bertalon. Noble married Anna Mae Letherer on Oct. 8, 1960, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2024.
Growing up on the family farm, Noble was his grandpa John's little shadow. He graduated from Pittsford High School in 1959 where he was a member of the marching band, FFA and he played football. Noble went on to attend Michigan State University and Purdue University. For 35 years, Noble worked as a Hillsdale County Farm Bureau Insurance Agent. He also worked for M&S Manufacturing, farmed and owned Bert's Music City with his wife, Anna. Noble was a longtime member of the Hillsdale First United Methodist Church, Pittsford Lions Club, Hillsdale Jaycees, Hillsdale Elks and the Hillsdale County Mounted Sheriffs Posse. Music was always a passion for Noble as enjoyed playing the saxophone and dancing. Noble also enjoyed flying airplanes and was a member of the Hillsdale Airport Club.
Survivors include three children, Melissa (Steven) Raymond, Eric (Donna) Bertalon and Kristi (Chris) Clark; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Cheryl) Raymond, Jason (Ruth Ann) Raymond, Brandon Raymond, Morgan Bertalon, Mikayla Bertalon, Allyson Clark and Megan Clark; two great-grandchildren, Taelynn and Katelynn Raymond; three sisters, Audrey Stevens, Linda Bertalon, and Cheryl Lynn Ross; and five siblings-in-law, Donna Bertalon, Donald (Jean) Letherer, Mary Borck, Shalia (Fred) Jehle and Lucile Stibitz.
In addition to his wife of nearly 64 years, Anna Mae Bertalon, Noble was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Donelda Bertalon; two brothers, Roger (Joan) Bertalon and Edward Bertalon; and one brother-in-law, Gordon Ross.
Memorial services for Noble Bertalon will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with the Rev. Dr. Anthony Tomasino officiating. Interment will follow at Churches Corners Cemetery in Pittsford. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society or the Hillsdale First United Methodist Church.
