Shannon Rowland Obituary

BUCYRUS - Shannon S. Rowland, 77, of Bucyrus died early Saturday evening at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. She had been in declining health but her death was unexpected.
Born in Granville, Tennessee, on August 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Virtie (Burgess) Spurlock.
Shannon was first married to Donald Wade and later married Jack Lady who preceded her in death. On May 28, 1967 she married Robert E. Rowland and he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1986. She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan; great-grandson, Byron; brother Ralph Spurlock; and a step-granddaughter Jennifer Masters.
Shannon is survived by three sons; Carl and wife Charlene Wade of Marion; Thomas and wife Darla Wade of Bucyrus; Steve Rowland of Bucyrus; step-daughter Sandy and husband Al Espen of Toledo; five grandchildren, Richard Wade, Dustin Wade, Abbi (Bill) Rush, Mike Wade and Morgan Wade; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry and wife Carol Spurlock of Michigan; a sister, Frances Wilcox of Lake Placid, FL; and two step-granddaughters, Amber and Leah Espen.
She was proud to play basketball in high school and graduated from Gainsboro HS in Gainsboro, TN. Shannon moved to Bucyrus in 1950 and worked at Timken for over thirty years retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Bucyrus Chapter #741, enjoyed bowling and spending her summers at Lake Erie and was well known for her cooking.
Calling hours will be Friday, from 7 to 9pm with a Moose service at 6:45. Additional calling hours will be Saturday two hours prior to the funeral starting at 11AM. Funeral Service will be Saturday November 29, 2008 at 1PM with Pastor Mike Wiechers officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Home Care Matters, Salvation Army or the March of Dimes in care of Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.
