Al Hollands Obituary

Hollands, Al C.

Jul 17, 1940 - Jan 28, 2026

Al C. Hollands lived a life defined by service, loyalty, and deep allegiance to the people and causes he loved. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Prudence Palmer Hollands. He also leaves behind his nieces, Michelle Hollands Foley and Melissa Hollands. Al was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Mary Hollands, and his late brother, James W. Hollands. As a student at Boston University, Al answered the call to serve his country with distinction. He served as a U.S. Army Green Beret in Vietnam, demonstrating extraordinary courage and dedication. Among his many honors, he also served as a member of the Honor Guard at the funeral of President John F. Kennedy, a solemn duty he carried with deep respect and lifelong pride. Beyond his military service, Al remained committed to civic life and his community. He was devoted to the Niagara County Conservative Party, believing strongly in service, principle, and civic responsibility. He generously gave his time and energy to historic preservation, volunteering in numerous roles with the Point Abino Lighthouse Preservation Society and the Friends of the Port Colborne Lighthouse, helping to preserve local history for future generations. Al will be remembered as a man of integrity and patriotism. His life was one of purpose, and his memory will be treasured by all who had the honor of knowing him.
