Feb. 13, 1939 – Jan. 3, 2016
Arthur H. Judelsohn, who earned a reputation as an accomplished deal maker while serving as president of a local real estate brokerage company for about 30 years, died Sunday in Hospice Buffalo after a long illness. He was 76.
A lifelong Buffalo resident, Mr. Judelsohn graduated from School 66, Bennett High School and Union College. He served as president of both his high school and college fraternities and worked as a disc jockey in college.
Mr. Judelsohn joined Berlow Real Estate in the early 1970s, and later as president directed the firm's growth into a prominent commercial real estate brokerage company, which also diversified into tenant representation, shopping center site selection and other fields. Berlow Real Estate also was a principal owner of the landmark Rand Building downtown, along with other commercial properties.
When his company merged with Pyramid Brokerage Co. in 2003, Mr. Judelsohn stayed on as senior executive director, maintaining a key role with the company into his mid-70s.
He was so determined to remain active and continue making real estate deals that he attended a work conference in New York City two weeks ago, even when he was ill.
"He loved making deals," said his wife of 47 years, the former Judith Cole. "He was a deal junkie."
Mr. Judelsohn was active in several commercial real estate organizations, including the International Council of Shopping Centers and ChainLinks.
He also was a former director and officer of the Building Owners and Managers Association.
An avid golfer who shot in the 80s, he was a member of Erie Downs, Westwood Country Club and Crag Burn Golf Club, as well as the former Montefiore Club.
He also was a lifelong member of Temple Beth Zion.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, James; one daughter, Jessica Kasimov; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Temple Beth Zion, 805 Delaware Ave.

Judy: So sorry to hear of Arthur. Although I have been living in Saraota for the last 20 years I have fond memories of our luncheon dates with Adrian and him when his offices were in the Ellicott Square Bld. And who could forget the good times at the Crystal beach cottage. He will be missed by all.
Sincerely, Richard Weissfeld

Judy and Family - You don't know me, but I am one of those who have had the honor of knowing your husband and father nearly 15 years. I am from Atlanta with the Home Depot in the Real Estate Department and as a consultant.
I have known in our industry none more creative or professional than Aurthur. He stood out in our business and life as always positive, attentive to the needs at the present and responsive to those we served together.
I am sure your family experienced this as well. I will miss greatly this fine friend and colleague and will be thinking of your family at this time.

I was shocked to see this announcement today. Arthur and I got to know each other very well over the last ten years and he helped attract all of the tenants in our building. He was a true professional and an all around great guy. He will be missed and mourned. Condolences to his family from ours.
