03.19.1943-04.10.2023 - Daniel passed peacefully in his sleep at 1:21am on April 10th, 2023, in Selma, CA at Bethel Lutheran Home. Daniel was born in Buffalo to Henry and Gertrude Protzman, as the last of 9 children. He graduated from Maryvale High School in Cheektowaga and went on to serve in the United States National Guard. He was a high school sports standout at MHS in football, baseball, basketball, and track. He was very proud to be inducted into the Maryvale Athletic Wall of Fame in 2012. His plaque describes him as rugged, tenacious, a strong leader and very demanding of himself and teammates. Daniel was known for his strong work ethic. He worked for General Motors for 32 years when he took early retirement in 1993. He later relocated to Statesboro, GA in 2003 to be closer to his grandkids, whom he loved and adored. In his life and retirement, Daniel loved playing golf and spending time with his grandkids. Daniel also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Masters golf tournament, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. It is evident that he was loved and will be sorely missed. He was predeceased by his mother and father; his eight brothers and sisters: Helen, Dottie, Gertie, Arlene, Harriet, Henry, Bill, and Carol. He was also predeceased by two sons, Patrick and Sean. Surviving Daniel are the following: his son Jason and Michelle (DIL), his wife, Susan Franks, three grandchildren Joshua, Mikayla, and Elijah; Sean, Pat and Jason's mom Judith along with many nieces, nephews. A memorial service will be held May 5th, 2023, 10:00am at New Covenant Church 345 McConkey Drive, Buffalo, New York 14223.
